Dealing with Debt Problems
We are a for-profit provider of debt adjustment and debt counselling services, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN 68074). We also trade as Your Debt Advice (www.yourdebtadvice.co.uk).
We are also authorised to provide credit information services, which enables us to provide you with a free assessment of your credit report when we undertake a debt advice session with you. We also use benefit checkers and income optimisation tools to assess whether there is a meaningful surplus income before looking at the most appropriate debt remedies for individuals and couples in problem debt. Your personal goals are really important, including whether you feel your debt problems are temporary or long-term.
We are able to register customers resident in England and Wales for Breathing Space, where this is appropriate.
Debt Solutions Offered
Clifford Watts offers a full range of debt advice on debt solutions covering all UK legal jurisdictions. These include:
- Bankruptcy Assistance (Sequestration in Scotland)
- Corporate Voluntary Arrangements (CVAs – for businesses)
- Debt Arrangement Schemes (DAS – Scotland only)
- Debt Management Plans (DMPs)
- Debt Relief Orders (DROs)
- Individual Voluntary Arrangements (IVAs in England & Wales)
- Self-help
- The option of re-financing, where appropriate
Formal insolvency work is undertaken in-house and with specialist providers.
Where a debt advice session is completed, we will provide you with a written copy of our recommendation and the eligible and most suitable debt remedies available. This initial stage is without charge.
Statutory costs and professional fees apply for some debt remedies, and these will be fully explained to you. You are under no obligation to take up the Clifford Watts recommendation and you will not be pressured to do so. It is important to understand the rights of the firms that you owe money to and the actions that they can take. We establish whether there is any urgent action required from the outset and the role that Breathing Space may play.
